Remy disabled cameras, doors, and alarms, and turned the security system into “daytime” mode. Facemasks and lab coats were worn by all. As we started exploring, armed guards began shooting. Heretic tore the throat out of one, and Bryan stabilized that person, so they didn’t immediately die. Remy took two shots from down a hallway (after successfully jamming one weapon) and Raged back up after going past incap. Remy, Dr. MacLeod, and Heretic fought one group of guards, killing and maiming them. Dr. MacLeod chopped one in half. Omar and Bryan fought with another group, after Bryan tried several times to talk sense into the guards and save their lives. Omar shrouded others in darkness and killed them. Overall, of the nine soldiers, seven were dead, and two other critically injured. So much carnage. They had radios, tactical armor, body cams, and we confiscated the body cams and radios.
Remy tracked the footage of the body cams to within 600-1,000 yards away. Remy sent her numen out to locate where the radio was transmitting to, but didn’t find anything.
On the fourth floor, there were white lab rats, about 20 of them. Dr. MacLeod used Scent of the True Form and discovered three are Ratkin, others seemed to be weird-smelling normal rats. Omar checked for Wyrm, but found that the rats have been chemically altered, but aren’t Wyrm. Heretic talked to the 17 rats, and offered them a ride, and conversation. Rats talked about being sick and then getting injections. Heretic now has many little friends.
The room with the rats had a whiteboard. Omar noticed that lab equipment was shaking, and took a quick pic of the whiteboard. Rust began to appear around the edges of a group of vials under an isolation hood, and then stopped moving. After talking to the Ratkin, they revealed that they were captured while foraging for food. They were injected several times, given funny-tasting food, but couldn’t pierce the veil to escape.
Remy gave the Ratkin her contact info and offered more formal relations between their warren and the pack. Dr. MacLeod gave the name of her clinic for as a place for help if they need it. The Ratkin and two of the other rats left.
Omar began to communicate with a ghost named George, who beckoned us to the Burroughs-Wellcome building, to another lab on the third floor. But this could be done on a different day.
Dr. MacLeod reviewed the data, and it turned out that were testing variants of the COVID vaccine, but wasn’t sure what results they were trying to get. We went over to Dr. Gentry’s office, and looked around but didn’t find anything we didn’t already know. Remy grabbed his hard drive just in case. Heretic planted evidence to frame PETA for this attack by writing slogans in blood on the wall. Omar fed Heretic slogans to write, such as Nixon references, etc. Heretic added a bloody heart on the coffee maker. Dr. MacLeod ripped off the back door to make it look like a bear attack, and Bryan helped make it look like that with some crafty help.
We tried to get as much info as we could on the research, in case it was life-saving, before leaving.
Bryan and Remy went through and checked the security room, and didn’t find any record of us being there. After a thorough check of the parking lot, Heretic sniffed exhaust fumes, but didn’t see a car.
